Welcome, I'm glad you found us.  My name is Matt Bergin.  I created Winter Garden Social back in 2024.  It has changed my life for the better in so many ways and I hope it does the same for you.  

I moved to Downtown Winter Garden in 2016 and for the first time in my adult life I felt like I found the place I want to call home.  Frankly, at this point I can't imagine living anywhere else.  I love everything about this charming, vibrant little town and I want to share that with as many people as I can!

Winter Garden Social is an engaging online community designed for those living in or visiting Winter Garden to fully embrace and experience the many facets of our community!  We organize and host frequent social experiences through a variety of group events in and around Winter Garden.  We bring people together to give them the opportunity to meet new friends and explore everything this "charming little city with a juicy past" has to offer. 

How did Winter Garden Social get started?

After I found myself single and living on my own for the first time in almost 20 years, I realized that I was very much alone.  My family lives out of state and I suddenly had no friends.  I had no social circle or support structure to speak of. I was very troubled by my new sad and sobering reality.  It kinda snuck up on me and I didn't know what to do about it.  I've always been an introverted extrovert.  I crave social connection, but I'm kinda quiet and not very outgoing, especially when I don't know anyone.  I typically soak it up from the sidelines.  That made it hard for me to make new friends, especially this late in life. 

Eventually I started meeting people through a few Facebook groups that cater to local singles.  I started to come out of my shell and make new friends.  It was a lot of fun and was exactly what I needed.  

A couple years later I met someone and left the single life behind. Suddenly the singles groups were no longer a good fit for me.   I feared that I was going to lose the  social circle I had spent so much time developing.  So I created Winter Garden Social.  

It doesn’t matter if you are a resident or just an occasional visitor to the area.  It doesn't matter what your personal situation might be, whether you’re single and seeking a social network, or recently divorced and looking to rebuild social connections, or married and just need  a break from adulting, with or without your spouse.  We welcome everyone and are here to support you! 

Adult life can be hectic, and making new friends isn’t as easy as it was when we were kids. Winter Garden Social's mission is to change that!  You’re guaranteed to meet new friends, have a ton of fun, and create lasting memories in the process.

The people that make up Winter Garden Social do more than just socialize.  Winter Garden Social partners with Habitat for Humanity and Matthew's Hope Ministries to support those in need throughout our community.  

We regularly host volunteer opportunities to participate in building and renovation projects through Habitat For Humanity.  We also host a variety of public events to raise donations for Matthew's Hope Ministries.
